Specialist Notes

Stanislao Canovai (Florence, 1740–1812) was a cleric, mathematician, and historian active in the vibrant scientific scene of Tuscany in the late eighteenth century. He devoted much of his life to teaching mathematics and physics, distinguishing himself for an approach that combined theoretical rigor and scientific applications. His work contributed significantly to the spread of scientific culture in pre-unification Italy.
