Fourth model. 7-1/2", octagonal, rifled, 36 cal. barrel, (visible rifling, very slight encrustations and slight signs of use inside), with foresight, featuring clearly legible standard back mark, ending in "AMERICA". Barrel with matching serial number on the frame, not numbered cartridge rammer, barrel wedge with matching but abbreviated serial number; six-shot cylinder with remains of the Texas-Mexico naval battle, still legible patent and serial numbers (also matching the frame). Mechanism needs revision (break at the cylinder spring, removed but present, and at the cock screw). Frame marked "COLTS PATENT" and serial number "171xxx", the pin of the cylinder with abbreviated and matching serial number. Brass gripstraps with remains of silver plating, with matching serial numbers. Wide, rounded trigger guard, with mark "36 Cal." Mark "P" on the bottom of the grip. Average to good condition. Some pitting. Deserves proper restoration and cleaning. Smooth, walnut grip.
