Information

Europa
length 42 cm.
Smoothbore, browned, two-stage, 13.7 mm cal. barrel, both of round section divided by rings (browning with small defects, 95 % preserved), rings also found at the base; a little further there is a beautiful bas-relief engraving with a leafy arabesque motif on a gilded background which decorates the first segment. Tang with spirals engraved in bas-relief, browned and on a grained and gilded background. Flintlock with rounded lock plate, the tang and hammer throw chiselled and gilded en suite; the spring is engraved and browned, the latter features also present on the screw and upper jaw of the cock; inside, the mark "GM" with a three-pointed crown. Full stock of light wood (restored behind the counterplate) sculpted with mask and vegetable motifs at the tang. Polished steel mounts, trigger guard with three carved elements, beautiful butt-plate with plant/scroll decorations, carved in bas-relief with burin, the finely dotted (granite) background is also gilded, in particular the central round medallion also with browning. Horn muzzle ring. The browning of both the screws and the two elements composing the counterplate has probably been refreshed. Horn-tipped wooden ramrod.
