Specialist Notes
Original edition, rare to find on the market. Scipione Volpicella (1810 - 1883) specialized in historical studies, with a particular interest in the viceroyalty period in Naples. He had many interests: from the artistic heritage of Naples and its surroundings ( Principal buildings of the city of Naples , Naples 1847, with illustrations and critical notes) to literature ( Joking and satirical chapters by Luigi Tansillo, published and unpublished , Naples 1870) to the memoirs of writers (see the essays published in the Historical Archive for the Neapolitan provinces), privileging the viceroyalty (the best of his production was later collected in a single volume , Studies of literature, history and arts , Naples 1876).
