Specialist Notes

A splendid and rare portolan chart dedicated to the ports and bays of the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov. Numerous plates describe Italian ports, including Gaeta, Naples, and Pozzuoli. The latter are of particular interest because they offer a glimpse into the port situation during the period of Italian unification.
