Turin, for the Bianco heirs, 1833. In folio. 2 volumes. With 9 lithographic plates, almost all protected by vellum, contemporary red morocco binding, gold Savoy coat of arms in the center of the covers, rich blind and gold stamping, gold titles on the smooth spine with decorations, gilt edges, some peeling, minor defects.
Specialist Notes
First edition. The plates depict: the portrait of Filiberto Pingonio, the portrait of Giacomo Chifflet, the effigy on the shroud, a plate with medals, and the ancient Royal Pavilion decorated for the Exhibition of the Shroud with the Royal Palace in the background; the chapel of the Château de Chambéry, two plates from the sacristy of the Château de Chambéry where the Shroud was kept until 1578, and the interior of the Chapel of the Shroud.
