"Poco prima della sua morte, Milton raccolse e preparò per la stampa una raccolta della sua corrispondenza privata in latino, risalente agli anni Venti del Seicento e scambiata con amici, allievi e conoscenti, sia in Inghilterra che nella comunità degli umanisti dell'Europa continentale.
