Neapoli, Felix Carolus Musca, 1739. In 8°, large copper engraving on the reverse of the title page depicting a sepulchral monument with dedication "Sub ax", pp. 330 with numerous examples of ax in iron, stone and wood engraved n.t. Coeval parchment binding, gilt title, colored edges.

In this work, Mazzocchi reports and comments on over 30 opinions of illustrious scholars from antiquity to Muratori on the meaning of the dedication "sub ascia", on Roman sepulchral monuments of the proto-imperial era, finally giving his explanation. Numerous types of ax engraved in the dedications are also illustrated in the volume. Rare.
