Rome, 1809. In oblong folio. First page with calligraphic title, with 30 plates finely etched plates, text pages, with the writing mirror bordered by a typographic frame, flourishes, blushes and last table with defects, binding of the century. XX in half brown leather.
Specialist Notes
First rare edition of Marianna Candidi Dionigi's travel diary to be found on the antiques market. The author at the beginning of the century. XIX she had ventured to discover the then little-known territory which were the so-called cities of Saturn: Ferentino, Alatri, Arpino, Atina, Anagni. The result was this work which combines the story with beautiful plates, based on drawings by the author, in which landscapes, plants and views of the city are depicted, the main monuments, ruins and sections of walls, sceneries then little known. The tables were run from WilhelmFriedrich Gmelin, ed a VincenzoFeoli.
