Cologne, Birckmannica workshop, for Arnold Mylius, 1600. In 2 °. Architectural frontispiece engraved in copper, with 12 engraved copper plates and folded, including the map of Jerusalem, at the end of the volume the large paper folded several times “Terra Sancta sive Palestina in qua Christus Peregrinatus Est”, mm. 756 x .520, defect in the title page, woodworm holes that run throughout most of the work on some panels, light burnishing, original brown calfskin binding, six-sided spine with title and friezes imprinted in gold on the compartments, restorations and stains . At the top margin of the title page there is an ancient note of ownership.


Specialist Notes

The Theatrum Terrae Sanctae is the most important work of the theologian Aderichrom, who took 30 years to complete his history of the Holy Land divided into 3 parts and managed to publish only the first part . The other 2 parts were published posthumously by Georg Braun in 1590, and the following ones in 1593, 1600, 1613, 1628, and 1682. & nbsp; The Theatrum & nbsp; contains 12 tables, 9 of the territories of the tribes of Israel, one of the Exodus, and the plan of Jerusalem. & nbsp; Our sample contains an extra table depicting the & nbsp; " TerraSancta sive Palestine in qua Christus Peregrinatus Es t ”.
