Model identical to the one issued to the Guard. Smoothbore round 17 mm cal barrel with octagonal breech, marked “DT” and dated 1817, with two further partially illegible stamps; front sight mounted on the muzzle band, clutch for the bayonet. Smooth tang. Lock signed “Manuf. Royale de Versailles”, bearing a “G” under star a mark and fitted with a brass pan; working two-snap mechanism. Full wooden stock with traces of a stamp on the sideplate area; some silver mounts marked “H.” An oval silver escutcheon on the back displays the royal arms (three fleurs-de-lis surmounted by a crown) with the motto “VIVE LE ROI.” A silver shield-shaped cheekplate on the right side is inscribed “Donne par le ROI au Sr. Drevo Julien.” Iron ramrod. The gun is accompanied by the royal brevet awarding it to Drevo, signed by King Louis XVIII and the Minister of War on 11 July 1817. The document bears the royal arms and paper seal, presented framed and under glass.
