Como, Tipografia Provinciale Felice Ostinelli, 1871. 2°, 470 x 340 mm. Illustrated title page with the names of the main architects and three portraits in medallions (Gian Galeazzo Visconti, San Carlo Borromeo, Napoleon I), accurate history of the Milan Cathedral followed by a description of the plates, 64 beautiful architectural plates, 35 of which are double-page, the engravings show maps, architectural details, external views, paintings, etc., slight marginal foxing, red chagrin binding with a gold-stamped image of the Cathedral on the front, worn.

Specialist Notes

Second edition of 1871 of this important architectural work on Milan Cathedral. Conceived and promoted by Giuseppe Vallardi, the work was collaborated on by scholars and talented artists of the time, including F. Zuccari, G. d'Adda, L. Cagnola, A. Nava, and G. De Castro. The plates are arranged to offer a suitable idea of the most grandiose and notable aspects of the Cathedral, as well as its smallest details.
