The painting is sold with an expertise, available in copy, by Professor Ferdinando Bologna, dated 20 November 1982, which confirms the present attribution. The scholar underlines how the work differs from the painter's most famous and conspicuous production, namely the picturesque views with architectural inserts and popular life, rather fitting into the rarer and qualitatively more significant genre of landscape. In the painting in question the full-bodied brush strokes outline a composition of broad scope and inventive richness.
