LOT DESCRIPTION

The Porsche 911 series 996 was produced from 1997 to 2005 and represents one of the most important turning points in the history of the 911. With this model, Porsche abandoned traditional air cooling, adopting for the first time a liquid-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine, a necessary choice to comply with new emissions and noise regulations and to improve performance and reliability. The design was also completely new compared to the previous generation (993), with more modern lines and the characteristic front headlights shared with the Boxster, a solution that caused much discussion among enthusiasts at the time. During its career, the 996 was offered in numerous versions, including Carrera, Carrera 4, Turbo and GT3, with power outputs ranging from approximately 300 to over 400 hp. In total, approximately 175,000 units were built, making it one of the most widespread 911s. Today, the 996 is considered a transitional 911, fundamental because it marks the beginning of the model's modern era and represents the definitive transition to contemporary Porsche technologies.
