Handwritten note signed by journalist Orio Vergani, headed " Corriere della Sera ", sent from Milan " on the evening of the 23rd " to Luigi Freddi
Vergani recommended the painter Mario Vellani Marchi to Freddi, a " fascist who never asked for anything " and who from 1919 to 1922 devoted himself greatly to Party propaganda. He was, however, kept aside, and it would be nice if Freddi remembered him for a possible future exhibition.
Mario Vellani Marchi was a newsboy for Assalto, the official newspaper of the Fascist Federation of Bologna, known for his life sketches of city views and individual monuments, travel impressions, fairs, and fascist rallies. Having moved to Milan from Modena in 1925, he met Orio Vergani and Riccardo Bacchelli, with whom he founded the artistic circle on Via Bagutta.
