ITALO BALBO was among the most charismatic figures of Italian Fascism: Quadrumvir of the March on Rome (1922), founder of the Italian Air Force (Minister of the Air Force 1929-1933), protagonist of the famous transatlantic cruises (1930-1931 South America; 1933 Chicago), Governor of Libya (1933-1940). He died on 28 June 1940, shot down by friendly fire over Tobruk during the Second World War.
