dating: early 20th Century provenance: Ethiopia, Curved, grooved blade with fuller, bearing short inscriptions in Amharic, effigy of St. George with the Dragon and the Lion of Judah, around these images various raceme and trophy decorations, still clearly visible. Mark 'G.G.' at the base. Iron hilt with stirrup guard. Sheath-guard wings with monogram in relief and Lion of Judah. Wooden grip in black material (lacquer?) with wire binding and copper wire. Some pitting and signs of use to the iron parts. Typical tribal leather scabbard with lacks, damage, signs of use and time. length 92 cm.
