The Keller-Morigi collection: the first auction completely dedicated to African works of art

Sculptures, masks, statues and reliquaries: an exclusive collection of African works, all accompanied by excellent pedigrees, from important collections

Finarte presents the first auction completely dedicated to African works of art from a precious Swiss collection, works acquired in the early 1900s and selected for their high aesthetic quality, representative of the major ethnic groups of the African continent.

The collection that Finarte presents in preview in Milan has a corpus of 80 lots, mostly from the collections of Georges Keller, a famous Swiss art collector born in Bern, and Paolo Morigi, an equally famous African art dealer of origins Italian.

Sculptures, masks, statues and reliquaries: an exclusive collection of African works, all accompanied by excellent pedigrees, from important collections and correlated by historical insights that tell in detail the origin and history of each individual lot. Among the valuable works, a very rare Bambara sculpture from the Segou region (Republic of Mali) belonging to Henri Bing (1888 – 1965), a Parisian artist and art dealer, friend of Amedeo Modigliani, will be presented in Milan.

The collection can be visited in Milan during Finarte’s opening hours.
