length 129.5 cm.
Heavy, rifled, octagonal,16 mm cal barrel (bore with slight pitting, visible rifling) made of damask, base with brass mark (Stöckel 7756), precision foresight; tang with folding peep sight; forward lock with flat plate signed 'F. X. Lang A NEUCHATEL'. Working mechanism. Wooden full stock with knurled base. Iron mounts, anatomical trigger guard, set trigger. The part of the counterplate with mother-of-pearl shield. Horn-tipped wooden ramrod.

Specialist Notes

For Franz Xaver Lang, see 'Der Neue Stöckel', vol. I, p. 680. Lang, originally from Bohemia, became a citizen in 1819. He died in 1850. This rifle is believed to be one of the last works of the skilled gunsmith.
