Head with solid square-shaped cusp. Almost-straight-edged axe slightly inclined downward, with cusped flanges. Straight beak, pointed downward, with thick lobed flanges. On the surface of the axe a cruciform decoration formed by the juxtaposition of curved segments and dots; star-shaped mark of manufacture or arsenal. Short crack on one side only, possibly due to lamination. Short, undulating side straps with even shorter counter-straps. Iron ring-nut. Mounted on a wooden shaft, probably of later date. Signs of use and age. Probably German or Swiss.
