A medal for veterans of the war against Austria, made of gilded bronze: on the obverse, a bust facing right with the inscription ‘LEOPOLDO II GRANDUCA DI TOSCANA’ around it; on the reverse, within oak branches, the legend ‘GUERRA DELLA INDIPENDENZA ITALIANA 1848’ (Italian War of Independence 1848); with a tricolour ribbon. Together with a popular medal for the customs union of the type ‘PIO IX - LEOPOLDO II’ and a badge of the Tuscan Civil Guard. These two are in bronze with a white and red ribbon.
