Rifled, round, 13 mm cal. barrel (bore with some pitting, visible rifling) with foldaway rear sight and foresight, marked "CAST STEEL 1862" and with a mark "H" on the breech. Frame with Burnside bolt with falling and tilting block. Percussion breechloading system, frame marked "BURNSIDE PATENT MODEL MARCH 1856" and serial number "225xx"; backward spring lock marked "BURNSIDE RIFLE Co./PROVEDENCE=R.I.", wooden butt and fore-end (some signs of time) with military inspection stamp on the left side of the butt; iron mounts. Counterplate with sling swivel. Some areas with pitting, few remains of the original browning. Rare.
