Beautiful, heavy octagonal rifled barrel, elliptical bore with two-helix rifling (barely visible); the chamber is decorated with floral scrolls, some of which still have remains of gilding, and features the manufacturer's signature ‘Brion / a Paris’; slightly bell-mouthed nozzle fitted with a rear sight, also decorated with floral motifs, some of which partially gilded. Modern lock with slightly domed plate, carved at the tang with a beautiful bas-relief mask, the remains engraved with scrolls, with the noble initials crowned in the centre. Full walnut stock with small scrolls carved on the frame and behind the ramrod channel. Beautiful iron mounts, partly restored in gold (some missing parts), some with gold-plated spirals, the butt plate with a round snap opening for storing the balls. The magnified trigger guard is chiselled and openwork with scrolls and floral motifs. Iron counterplate with a hunting scene. The lug on the butt for the sling featuring a gold-inlaid base. On the back of the grip is an iron and gold shield, chiselled and engraved with floral motifs. The shield, of ancient French type, is quartered and stamped with an open noble crown. Muzzle ring and tube loops with rings with remains of gold agemine. Original silver-tipped ramrod with iron cartridge extractor.
