Persia
length 64 cm.
Large, straight, double-edged blade, the base flat and on the right side with yellow metal inscription and decoration: 'Amal-i Muhammad 1322' meaning "Work of Muhammad year 1322 (1904-5?)", later grooved in the middle and finally ribbed towards the weak, areas damaged by rust. Grip of typical shape with buffalo horn grip scales and silver rivets decorated with turquoises (missing parts) on silver Persian coins on both sides. The central band of beaded silver. Wooden scabbard covered with green leather stitched with metal wire. Majestically embossed and engraved silver mounts with court scenes, angels, warriors (one fighting a tiger), animals and floral motifs in relief on a granulated background, the band with suspension ring decorated with turquoises and coloured glass stones (missing parts). The back side with two bands with inscriptions in Arabic: 'sahibuhu qurban-'ali 'amal-i ibrahim' (''Its owner Qurban-'Ali. Work of Ibrahim'') and embossed with birds and floral motifs. Wide loop. Very rare.
