An exciting marathon of 400 lots of engravings, multiples and posters, of those who are the most influential authors of the history of art and those on the crest of the wave that make the world talk today.
An extraordinary work by Banksy, Applause, an emblem of strong media criticism never before sadly current, part of the Barely Legal series, one of the best known and most appreciated in the world, gives the cover to the catalog. He will also be offered several "souvenirs" of the Dismaland theme park.
The first part of the auction, from lot 324 to 602, will be entirely dedicated to the Italian Masters known all over the world, such as Marino Marini, Giorgio Morandi, Mario Merz, Enrico Castellani. Dorazio and Guccione are represented by a very wide variety of works, as well as Carla Accardi and Achille Perilli. Among others, two rare etchings by Giorgio de Chirico, two beautiful works by Lucio Fontana, a sheet by Claudio Parmiggiani and a multiple by Giuseppe Spagnulo.
In the international section of the afternoon, from lot 603 to 723, we will propose numerous works by Obey, some of which in limited edition and a large selection by Keith Haring. Continuing in the pop and very current wake, the complete series of posters by Damien Hirst for the Cerisier exhibition at the Fondation Cartier, Paris, and two inevitable works by KAWS and Edgar Plans will be offered at auction. Christo, with a magnificent Wrapped Armchair, a test sample dedicated to the printer of the series, is the protagonist of a selection of works dedicated to him including a Wrapped Reichstag with a sample of fabric used for the installation, signed by the author. Among the important and international historical works, two splendid and rare works by Henry Matisse and an engraving by Picasso must be absolutely mentioned. Finally, among the other international authors we point out Sam Francis, Rufino Tamayo and Bill Viola (presented simultaneously with a personal exhibition in Rome at Palazzo Bonaparte) and a collection by Frantisek Tichy.
