In occasione del centenario della Statua della Libertà, l’organizzazione City Kids chiese ad Haring un contributo, L’artista, con l’aiuto di 1000 bambini disegnò e dipinse un banner alto 30 metri rappresentante la Statua della Libertà. Il 2 di luglio, festa dell’indipendenza americana, il banner fu esposto a New York e per sponsorizzare l’evento fu creata e distribuita questa litografia offset.
Negli anni successivi il banner fu esposto anche a Milano e Parigi e dopo la morte dell’artista anche durante lo spettacolo musicale di Paul McCartney tenutosi durante il 36° Superbowl nel 2002
