Alberto Tomba sticker, released by Panini for the 1988 Supersport series. This sticker is Tomba's rookie, graded 9 by PSA. Only two stickers of this kind have been graded so highly, and none have been rated higher, making it the Holy Grail of Tomba stickers. Alberto Tomba, "Tomba the Bomb," a name that rocked ski slopes around the world in the 1980s and 1990s. Born in Bologna on December 19, 1966, Tomba wasn't just an alpine skiing champion, but a true media phenomenon, combining talent, physical strength, and an exuberant personality that made him a global sports icon. His five Olympic medals (three gold and two silver) make him one of the most decorated alpine skiers in Olympic history. Tomba also left an indelible mark in the World Cup. He won: one overall World Cup (1994-95); four giant slalom World Cups; and four slalom World Cups. Beyond his sporting successes, Alberto Tomba was a true media phenomenon. His extroverted personality, often outrageous statements, and charisma made him beloved by the public and followed by the media worldwide. Alberto Tomba retired from competition at the end of the 1997-98 season, after winning yet another gold medal at the Nagano Olympics. His career was a succession of triumphs and unforgettable moments, which cemented him as a legend of alpine skiing and Italian sport.
