This beautiful self-portrait is part of the famous Verifiche series: it is the second of fourteen and is defined by the author as ‘The photographic operation’. This verification, dedicated to his famous American colleague, writes Ugo Mulas himself, ‘is an awareness that the camera does not belong to me, and is an additional medium whose power can neither be overestimated nor underestimated, but precisely for this reason it is a medium that excludes me the more I am present’.
