Famoso come fotografo di moda ingaggiato da Life per fotografare negli anni Cinquanta le sfilate di Parigi, nel 1954 apre uno studio di ritratto di star a Manhattan sulla 65th. Nel 1960 viene a sapere che tre brownstone che stavano proprio di fronte al suo studio stanno per essere abbattuti quindi, prima che succeda, chiede a 41 modelle vestite in modo diverso di posare alle finestre vuote per una fotografia di ricerca personale subito pubblicata da Life e Ladies Home Journal diventando anche la sua immagine più famosa.Condition report
