Enzo Sellerio (Palermo 1924 - 2012) born in a family of intellectuals, he graduated in Law and quit his university career to embrace in the early 1950s the career of photographer by publishing in the periodicals “Sicilia,” “Cinema Nuovo” and “Il Mondo” with images of neorealist taste thanks to which he made his first personal exhibitions. Reportages in the Swiss magazine “du” allowed him, in the first half of the 1960s, to work as a freelancer between Paris and New York for Vogue portraying important cultural personalities. A new and different interest in publishing led him to put photography aside and found, with his wife Elvira, Sellerio Edizioni, which published both art and fiction books.

Those who do not know about photography are always a little surprised to discover that Enzo Sellerio was not only a great publisher, but when he sees the image of this girl standing on the balcony of a house, something snaps inside him because this photograph, without knowing who had taken it, he had already seen it. It is the destiny, not necessarily negative, of some authors to be remembered mainly for one of their works, but on the other hand the fact that Linguaglossa appears on the cover of the monograph “Enzo Sellerio. “Fotografo in Sicilia" that Art& published in 1996 something has to say. That shot from below, that mischievous smile and especially the sinuous shape of the girl that dialogues with those of the decorations on the balcony and the supports of the electric wires that follow one another on the wall, indicate the author's predilection for the harmony of details. In the photograph taken in the smallest town in the province of Palermo we grasp another aspect that characterizes his vision, the sense of a composition that seems to give order where there is none.
