Original comic strip made by Quino in December 1994 for "Mafalda." The strip we're offering is an alternate version of strip n. 1637, made by Quino as a gift to an Italian colleague. An Argentine cartoonist and comedian of Spanish origin, Quino began his career as a humorous illustrator in the 1950s. In 1963, he was commissioned to create an advertising campaign featuring a little girl full of ideas for a better world. The campaign never saw the light of day, but Quino, having grown fond of his little, great creature, began drawing stand-alone strips. The success of Mafalda and her friends quickly became worldwide. The complete absence of Mafalda strips on the market makes this work extremely rare. The work is accompanied by a certificate of provenance written by the famous Italian cartoonist who received the work as a gift from Quino. Slight vertical crease in the center, slight crease in the left margin. Signed, dated, and dedicated.
