Sunday comic strip from October 8, 1916, for "The Whole Blooming Family." On February 13, 1916, McManus decided to discontinue his "Their Only Child" strip after a decade, thus launching a new series titled "The Whole Blooming Family." He took readers into the daily life of a family whose father (a peaceful and jovial man) was a busy businessman, his wife a commoner, their daughter a spoiled and fashionable young woman, an idle son named Oswald, and two capricious children completed the picture. The series was discontinued after just eight months, on October 22, 1916, in favor of the new series "Rosie's Beau." The very short life of this strip makes it one of the rarest McManus ever created; no other copies are known to have appeared on the market in recent years. On two panels. Signed.
