Information
pencil, ink and watercolor on thin cardboard
37 x 21 cm
Original illustration made by Bonzagni for the first edition of the novel "Casa di pazzi casa di santi" by Virgilio Brocchi, which appeared in installments in the weekly magazine Il Mondo (Ed. Sonzogno) between September 1917 and February 1918, later reprinted in volume by Treves in 1919 with the title "Secondo il cuor mio". Bonzagni, at Brocchi's request, made twenty-four illustrations to accompany the novel, the one we presented was the one used as the cover. Bonzagni was among the signatories of the first edition of the Manifesto of Futurist Painters (1910), having distanced himself from the group, he turned his interest to reality, which he observed with a vein of irony. His graphic works are numerous, also influenced by his knowledge of the magazine Ver Sacrum and by contact with the secessionist culture exhibited in those years at the Biennale. Signed.
