pen on paper
22 x 28 cm ciascuno
Lot composed of 3 preliminary comic arts made by Pratt for the sixteenth Corto Maltese adventure entitled "Dream of a Midwinter Morning", published for the first time in France on Pif Gadget in 1972. In 1917 Corto is at Stonehenge, in England. While he sleeps, the meeting between four fantastic creatures of Anglo-Saxon mythology takes place: Puck, Oberon, Morgana and Merlin and the reason is the need to find someone who can counter the imminent landing of the Germans which threatens to wipe out the magical world of these beings; the choice falls on Corto Maltese. For the first time we have the opportunity to peek into the creative process of the great Pratt, in these sketchy but already fully evocative tables, we can admire Corto immersed in the fog of Stonehenge while talking to Puck in the form of a raven, we then see the beautiful Rowena and the German soldier Vortigern. Provenance: Heritage Auction - Lot #91200 - Jun 8, 2019.
