Study for the characters made by a very young Raviola (twenty-one-year-old set designer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna) for the medieval sacred drama "The Miracle of Theophilus" by Rutebeuf. The years of the Academy were fundamental for the training of the young Raviola, in these theatrical sketches in which he noted the roles (Mefistofele, Fuoco fatuo, Streghe e Stregoni) we can already see the style and genius of the future Magnus. On the reverse another study for what appears to be a battle of the American Civil War. Of great rarity. Small tears and creases on the margins. Signed and dated.
