For the painting an attribution to Giovanni Rivalta (Faenza 1756 - 1832) has been suggested.
Il catalogo delle opere del pittore faentino, specializzatosi in nature morte come il suo maestro Francesco Malagoli, è stato riordinato recentemente. L'attività dell'artista è stata così distinta da quella dei coevi pittori Luigi Benini (1767-1804) e Pietro Piani (1770-1841), protagonisti della grande decorazione delle maioliche locali della ditta Ferniani.
