Provenance
Purchased on the Roman antiquarian market in 1978 by collectors Marcello Ranieri and Maria Vittoria Curto and came by inheritance to the current owners.
In the Ranieri Curto collection the painting was traditionally attributed to Domenico Gargiulo and Viviano Codazzi (cfr. Fortune e meriti del collezionismo: la quadreria romana di Maria Vittoria Curto e Marcello Ranieri, a cura di G. Rostirolla, Roma 2020, cat. 14, p. 71-75).
