the painting is sold with an expertise by Professor Giuseppe Cantelli, dated October 15, 1976, which proposed the present attribution.
Cantelli finds stringent affinities with the frescoes in the Villa's chapel the Petraia in Florence and with the canvas depicting the Beheading of San Giovanni Battista in the Church of San Giovannino dei Cavalieri also in Florence. Furthermore, in the painting offered in the lot, we note the strong influence that Simone Pignoni had in the cultural formation of Dandini.
