The work constitutes a second version - which can always be considered autograph due to its high quality - of the Saint Orsola in private collection published by Manzitti (C. Manzitti, Valerio Castello, Turin 2004, p. 131, n. 97) which, according to the scholar, can be dated around the early 1850s and could be identified with the Saint Orsola cited by Alizeri in the palace of the Marchese Bernardo Sopranis, together with three other paintings depicting a Saint Cecilia, the Abduction of Helen and the Triumph of David (F. Alizeri, Guida Artistica per la città di Genova , Genova, 1846-1847, vol. I, p. 583).
