The work, probably reduced to the margins, presents the same subject as a prototype exhibited in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice and alternatively attributed to Pier Francesco Mola or, by Roberto Longhi, to Mattia Preti, to whom the painting was definitely assigned Collection of Professor Valentino Martinelli, Rome.
