Specialist Notes
An extremely rare original edition, it was republished by the printers in 1738 under the title Rarissimorum scriptorum rerum Neapolitanarum collectio. The subject of the work is the history and topography of the Kingdom of Naples through the works of the major writers of the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries: 1) Ambrogio Leone - de Agro Nolano. 2) Gabriele Barrio - de Antiquitate Calabria. 3) Francesco Grano - De Situ Calabriae. 4) Giovanni Giovene - De Varia Tarentinorum Fortuna. 5) Antonio Galateo - De Situ Japigiae. 6) Paolo Antonio Di Tarsia - Historiarum Cupersanensium. 7) Abbate Damadeno - Tabula Canusii. 8) Henz Brennemanus - De republica Amalfitana. Note among the plates the beautiful view of Nola and the large, elegantly draped map of the Agro Nolano that extends to the "Sinus Surrentinum."
