Specialist Notes
Catalogue of the first public library of Naples. It was established by Cardinal Francesco Maria Brancaccio (1592-1675), who donated his book collection to be preserved in the church of Sant'Angelo a Nido in Naples, also establishing that it be accessible to scholars. In 1691, a special building was inaugurated, adjacent to the church, to house the library. Today, the collection has been transferred to the National Library of Naples. The catalog includes approximately 10,000 works, arranged alphabetically by author and, in the case of anonymous texts, by title.
