"In 1886, at the beginning of his multifaceted, brilliant, and adventurous life as an artist and journalist, today's eminent playwright and short story writer published, under the editor Pierro, a pamphlet inspired by the spiritualism of that time in Naples: a pamphlet that has now become a rarity outside the home, to use a bibliophile's term. This youthful little volume...is an interesting historical document that portrays, with graceful sincerity, despite its playful nature, that period in which, precisely from Naples, the spiritualist faith spread throughout the rest of Italy, gathering converts and skeptics everywhere. Baby's pamphlet...turned the entire spiritualist camp in Naples upside down and ignited a not inconsiderable fire of controversy..."
