Provenance
Si tratta di uno degli studi preparatori per i dodici bassorilievi eseguiti da Gino Severini, raffiguranti scene bibliche, scolpiti e graffiti su pietra, che si trovano ai lati del portone d'ingresso della chiesa di Saint Nicolas a Semsales, in Svizzera.
Un disegno con lo stesso soggetto è conservato a Roma, nelle collezioni dei Musei Vaticani.
Il presente studio è dedicato a Yvanhoé Rambosson (Berny 1872 - Parigi 1943), poeta e critico d'arte francese, curatore del Petit Palais nel 1908 e da annoverare tra i membri fondatori del Salon d'Automne.
Un disegno con lo stesso soggetto è conservato a Roma, nelle collezioni dei Musei Vaticani.
