Original comic art made by Pratt for page 8 of "Tarawa," an Ernie Pike episode first published in Argentina in Hora Cero Extra n. 1 in 1958. This work was published on the editorial page of Sgt. Kirk n. 35 in 1974. Inspired by the stories of American war correspondent Ernie Pyle, who died at the end of the Second World War on a small island in the Pacific while serving with the 77th US Infantry Division, Oesterheld and Pratt created the character of Ernie Pike in Argentina in 1957, a man accustomed to the horrors of war but not yet resigned to its bloodthirsty idiocy. Text by H.G. Oesterheld. Slight creases and small tears in the right margin. Signed.
