Wooden sphere with twelve engraved and coloured spindles.
Spherical case lined with faux shagreen, with metal clasp, the interior is lined with engraved spindles, one side depicting ‘The WORLD as known in Caesar's Time agreeble to D'Anville’ and the other hemisphere is lined with ‘A TABLE OF Latitudes & Longitudes of Places not given on this GLOBE’.

The brothers John (1754-1835) and William (1760-1825) Cary, one a cartographer and engraver and the other an instrument maker, respectively, published their first globe in 1791 and immediately established themselves in the English market for this field. They specialised in the production of terrestrial and celestial globes of four different sizes.

I fratelli John (1754-1835) e William (1760-1825) Cary, rispettivamente cartografo e incisore l'uno e costruttore di strumenti l'altro, pubblicarono il loro primo globo nel 1791 e si affermarono subito nel mercato inglese di questo settore.
