Specialist Notes

This specimen may derive from an 18th century model by Johann Gottlieb Kirchner, who worked as a modeller in the Meissen factory from 1727 to 1737 together with Johann Joachim Kändler . See in this regard the crouching monkey with snuff box probably modelled by Kirchner (1732/1733) published in black and white in The Book of Meissen, by Robert E. Röntgen, 1996, p. 145, fig. 116.
