Reference 4500 was produced between 1946 and 1947, marking a turning point for Rolex in the design of its chronographs, with the introduction of a new case shape featuring straighter and more pointed lugs. The model is known as the grandfather of the iconic Daytona, and was offered in stainless steel, yellow gold, pink gold, and stainless steel & gold, such as the present watch, by far the rarest version.
