The Daytona 6263 was introduced to the market in 1969, along with its twin reference 6265. Produced for almost twenty years, it is estimated that only 2,000 gold pieces were manufactured. Unlike the corresponding steel models, Rolex marked its gold pieces with the designation "COSC" and inscription "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified" on the dial. The movement was assigned its own serial number as well, located under the balance wheel.
