Two-stage, rifled, 11 mm cal. barrel (clean bore, visible rifling), octagonal at the base marked “SCHAFFHAUSEN,” “ACIER FONDU,” “AW” under Helvetic cross, “558” and with other marks; round at the second part provided with variable rear sight, precision foresight and clutch for the bayonet. Forward spring lock with smooth lock plate marked “GW.” Wooden full stock with checkered and sculpted grip. Iron mounts, the right side with oval brass plate with the inscription “Ponti Francesco al Tiro Provinciale di Milano 1863.” Set trigger. Iron ramrod.
